Package Description
Starting a sleep center is one of the rewarding business experiences one can enjoy. It is a clean business with good level of profitability, providing you have enough clients coming through your door. There are sleep centers, which reach profitability in a very short frame of time. How do they do that, what do they do different to fill their beds?
The main difference between a successful busy sleep lab compared to the one that is barely making the ends meet is “Marketing”. The ability to create brand awareness about your center and getting people to become customers is the key. The successful centers get help from qualified people who understand what marketing is about and have deep rooted experiences of getting the results. I have seen sleep center owners who never did any marketing in their life, try to do it on their own and end up getting frustrated with no real results. First thing first; is knowing what to do and then doing it right, to make a big difference.
Marketing is a very broad category and can cover multitude of things but for this package, I will focus marketing on one of the most important sites in the world “Facebook”. Do you have a facebook marketing plan for your sleep business? Does it work? How did you develop it? I worked for one of the smartest sleep center owner in the world and my only job was marketing his sleep centers on Facebook. Yes, you read it right; my only job was to spend all day long working on Facebook to market his sleep labs. He hired me because I was already a social media marketing specialist. I worked with high-end agency for seven years creating brand awareness for their clients on the world’s largest social network.
During the interview in the first few minutes I knew two things:
1. This guy doesn’t know anything about facebook other than you can, like, share and comment
2. He is extremely intelligent by the questions he asked and by wanting to take advantage of a medium other sleep center owners are ignoring
It was clear he was already convinced on using facebook as a medium to gain new clients, if not, why would he want to hire a fulltime person working only on Facebook marketing?
But one of the first questions he asked me was, “why do you think sleep center should use Facebook marketing when facebook is all about social?”
I had already done extensive research on what sleep centers do and what kind of problems they treat. With my seven years experience on facebook marketing, I knew exactly how I can get results but how do you tell someone who knows and uses facebook only as a social network. I had to frame my answer in such a way so he understands; not only I know how to market on Facebook but also I have done my homework for sleep business.
My answer:
People do not experience sleep problems alone, along with them suffers their entire family. What do family members between the ages of 16-30 do when they want to make sense of things around them? They search online, with over billion members, Facebook is already the worlds second largest search engine but normal people still look at it as a social network. When these family members try to find information on Facebook, there are certain things they do, certain places they visit and try to find as much information as possible without revealing too much to their friends. Do these youngsters know their loved one is going through a sleep disorder and it can be treated? No they do not. (As matter of fact, most adult don’t know the sleep problems can be treated). To make sure Facebook marketing pays, we can target those already looking for information on sleep problems and help them figure out a path to our sleep labs. Interview was much longer than this and we went back and forth for hours. End result: I got the job.
When I actually started digging into creating a facebook marketing plan for his lab, I realized this guy is very smart. The ones who really win are the ones who venture into where no one else has gone before. Sleep business owners were not using facebook as a marketing medium at all. The most sophisticated ones had a Facebook fan page for their business and that’s about it. I moved fast and worked extra long hours to get things going. It took us seven weeks to get our first paying customer from Facebook but when the floodgates opened, we could not handle the demand. He quickly paid premium to purchased three other sleep centers in the area and we were able to double their incoming in a very short amount of time. More to come soon.
