My life experiences package includes knowledge and passion for teaching high school students.

I realized in the early days in my teaching career that I could use the passion passed along to me by my own teachers and professors to significantly affect others. Through nurturing and caring for my students, I began giving them what I had received. I worked very hard to make sure that every lesson I taught led my students to discover and question and wonder so that they could learn the answers for how to live well. My students know, first and foremost, that I care about them as human beings and that I care about their success as learners. My students know that I will work as hard as I have to make sure they grow and prosper in their learning. Early in my career I realized the responsibility I have for giving them a purpose and helping them to set goals for their futures. I teach with this purpose in mind.

 As a classroom teacher today, my most significant contribution lies in the legacy I create for those who have taught before me. I deliver every lesson that I teach to my students with the idea of paying forward all of the kindnesses and gifts of those who have taught me. Our educational system will not and cannot sustain itself without all of us who teach repaying those who so nobly and passionately taught us. I will remember always as one of my proudest teaching moments when one day a female student handed me a note as she left class. The note read: “Never forget that you make a difference for someone in your classes every day. Today, that someone was me. Thank you.” Those words changed my teaching career and gave me more insight into teaching than a hundred education textbooks. On that day, I realized something that I still remind myself of daily. I once was that girl. I once was changed because of a teacher. In every day of my professional teaching career since that day, I continue to make a contribution to our educational system by working diligently to make a positive impact on at least one student’s learning life as so many teachers made for me.
