This 10 week long online course, starting on September 9th, 2013, emphasizes on influence of economics on food prices discusses how government policies affect the prices. The primary objective of this course is to discover the a tool kit of basic economic concepts that will allow you to make a critical analysis of consumer preferences. The economic concepts that will be taught in this course include:
- Scarcity
- Supply and demand
- Society’s income and well-being
- Productivity
- Inflation
- Unemployment
- Basic tools of finance
- Labour supply and demand
- Role of the “Fed”
This course, to be taught by Ms. Jennifer Clark consists of short video tutorials, in addition to textbook handouts and other readings. Students will have to take 4 to 6 credit hours every week, and there will be a weekly quiz, along with a journal assignment and discussion forum posts. Anyone interested in understanding economic issues related to foods market can take this course, and the good thing is that no special background is required for this course.
In this 10-week long course (4 to 6 credit hours per week), you will examine how different sections of U.S economy function. At the end of the course you will be able to help people understand current economic issues and problems and suggest a realistic solution to these problems. Remember this course relies heavily on application of basic economics principles to present day events and issues. At the end of course you will earn a Statement of Accomplishment with Distinction, given you satisfactorily complete the project.
Ms. Clark is a lecturer at University of Florida, where she teaches several courses, both in online and in-person format.
