Extending visitor visa to the UK for longer than six months
 
Millions of people apply for a visitor visa to come to the UK every year.  Some succeed in getting the visa while others are rejected.  This document covers a detailed outlook on different types of visitor visas to the United Kingdom and what is typically needed to get your visitor visa.  In normal circumstances visitor visa does not extend be on a 6 months period. There are other things that are required of you for getting a general/ tourist visa to the UK.  For a successful tourist visa to the UK you must:
Be 18 years old or older;
 
Your intention to stay in the UK is less than 6 months
If you accompanying an academic visitor you can stay up to 12 months;
You have no intention of staying in the uk after your visa is expired;
You will not gain access to the public funds and have enough of your own money to support yourself or have a family member or a friend who will support your visit;
You have enough funds to return back to your country
if you UK is one of the stop in your journey, you must have enough funds to continue with your journey
You can meet the cost of the return or onward journey; and
 
These are just some of the things you need to have but on the flipside to this, there are restrictions places on you as a visitor to the UK and you must comply with them and not do the following:                      
 
•Don’t try to come in for few months and then leave for a small timeframe and return again. Although your visa is valid for a period of time and multiple entry visa will allow you to come back whenever you want, over killing it will get the boarder staff suspicious and they have the right to refuse entry.
•You cannot work while in the UK, this includes selling of any sort, products or services or commission sales dealing with public.
•You cannot study or do any short courses, there are certain things you can study but make sure to double check before taking this step.
•Do not fall in love and marry or try your luck on civil partnership. 
•You are also not allowed to see private doctor for a medical treatment
•Emergency medical is provided to every person in the UK
