The prospect of traveling is an exciting one, but packing for the trip can be a bit of a downer. Making lists of what you need, having to go through all your possessions to determine what you should and shouldn’t take along, and fitting it all into a suitcase that is supposed to fall under the weight limit for the airline you will be traveling on – it’s one of those jobs that people tend to put off until they can’t possibly delay it anymore.
If you’re a slacker when it comes to packing for a trip, I know exactly how you feel. I used to hate the whole process of sorting through things, making piles, and then folding everything up so it would fit neatly inside my suitcase. Often, I would keep putting it off, and the result was me frantically throwing things into my suitcase a couple of hours before my flight, and begging family members to sit on the suitcase so I could zip it up. In hindsight, I cursed myself and my laziness, because in my haste I would always forget important things, or even necessities like toothbrushes or combs, and end up spending money unnecessarily in order to buy them.
The only thing that has cured my aversion to travel packing is a proper, detailed packing plan.
